Acer Announce The All-In-One Chrome OS Running Desktop PC, The Acer Chromebase

Chromebooks are big business this year. They were last year, with the market seeing a number of new additions and even being credited with helping to support what is a generally falling laptop and desktop industry. As such, manufacturers are keen to offer a number of their own Chrome OS running devices. None more so than Acer, who are by and large, one of the companies who have adopted the Chrome OS platform much more readily than many others. Acer has already unveiled one of the biggest display Chromebooks, in the form of the Acer Chromebook 15, not to mention, they have also released their Acer Chromebox solutions, which offer the ability to connect the box to an external display. Well, following on from this, the latest Acer addition that has been announced to join their ever-expanding Chrome family of devices is the new Acer Chromebase.

The Acer Chromebase is an all in one PC solution which runs on Chrome OS. The device comes with a 21.5-inch IPS touchscreen display which is Full HD display thanks to a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Not to mention, the display incorporates a 178-degree viewing angle and also accommodates support for 10-point touch technology. Inside, the Chromebase is powered by a Nvidia Tegra K1 quad-core processor as well as an HD webcam. In addition, the unit will come equipped with twin 3W speakers, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 Not to mention a number of ports for connecting, including an HDMI socket as well as USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. No information was provided in the press release as to the internal storage limits which will be on offer. Likewise, RAM information has also not been disclosed as of yet.

If that was all not enough, Acer have also announced that along with a number of other Chromebooks that are currently available, the Acer Chromebase will be eligible to take advantage of the free 100GB Google Drive storage deal which Google offers to select new Chromebook purchases. Currently, there are no details on how much the unit will cost at launch although Acer have stated that the Chromebase will be available from Q2 in North American and Asia Pacific markets.
