HTC Corporation, as expected, introduced the One E9+ and the long rumored One M9+ to the world this week at a previously scheduled press conference in Beijing, China. The event was titled “more than one”, but some consumers feel it could have probably have been titled, “There will be only one”. Not for the amount of handsets, but for the amount of countries the new One M9+ was going to be available in….which is only China, for now.
The recently launched HTC One M9+ has a QHD (2K) display, although the M9+ has a larger display than the original M9 at 5-inches. The M9+ has a display size of 5.2-inches, with a resolution of 1440 X 2560 screen carrying right at 565 pixels per inch. Far better than the regular M9 at its resolution of 1920 X 1080 at 440 PPI. The E9+ and M9+ hold the same BoomSound Speakers on the front incorporating Dolby Audio. The M9+ also is equipped with a home button. The tech savvy are probably wondering why? Well, that home button includes a fingerprint scanner. Do you think consumers would’ve loved that on the M9? The rear of the phone will have a 20 megapixel camera with a duo lens sensor using the view of field technology that HTC is famous for on its earlier phones, like last years M8. The metal bodied phablet has an octa-core MediaTek MT6795T processor driving the device with a clocked speed of 2.2 GHz.
While the device will be available for customers in China and perhaps other countries that haven’t been named as of press time, amazingly, North America and Europe will not be a market for the device. HTC believes that the M9 is the flagship model for the European and North American markets due to the handsets “blazing fast performance, incredible sound, and network compatibility across the broadest range of operators.” an HTC executive was quoted as saying. Apparently, despite the known fact that Samsung with the two new phones, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, LG with the G3,and soon the LG G4, and even Motorola, with the Droid Turbo have graced the U.S with Quad HD. How will people who bought the M9 feel? Then again who knows, maybe HTC has a secret in store for us in the future?
