LG Announce New Mid-Range Stylus Device As The LG G Stylo

It has been a busy month for LG. One of the many rumors which had been circulating in regards to the South Korean company, was that of a larger device which was due to be released. In particular, a phablet sized device sporting a stylus. Initially, rumors began circulating that this is likely to be a variant of the LG G4, but with a stylus and therefore, became dubbed the ‘LG G4 Stylus’. However, we reported last week that a reliable source confirmed that the device in question was going to be a mid-range device.

Well, LG has today gone and unveiled a mid-range device which does indeed come with a stylus. In fact, one could argue that this is only at best, a mid-range device as the specs on offer are more towards the mid-low end of the market. Firstly, the device has been released as the “LG G Stylo”, which clearly plays on the use of the stylus and according to the press release, the “G Style” of the device. Beyond the name, the G Stylo obviously comes equipped with a stylus. In addition, the phablet comes equipped with a 5.7-inch IPS display with a 1280 x 720 resolution and 258 ppi. Inside, the G Stylo offers 1.5GB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Quad-core processor (clocking at 1.2GHz). In terms of memory, the device comes with only 8GB of internal storage, although the announcement does state that there is a MicroSD card slot included on the device. In fact, one which will offer expandable storage up to 2TB. In terms of cameras, the G Stylo is loaded with an 8-megapixel rear camera coupled with a 5-megapixel front facing option. All will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery and the G Stylo will come running on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) out of the box. Additional features noted, include LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, NFC, A-GPS and USB 2.0. While, in terms of size, the device will measure 154.3 x 79.2 x 9.6mm and weigh approximately 163 grams

So, this is certainly a mid-range device at best. It could be possible that LG are still planning to release a high-end stylus device, although at present this one does seem to fit (most) of the rumors which had been circulating previously. In terms of availability, the device is set to be released in South Korea initially and is listed as expected to commence a more international roll out from May. Although, at present, no specific details were provided in terms of where.
