OnePlus Carl Pei Confirms CM12S For The OnePlus One Has Passed Certification And Arriving in "Next Few Days"

OnePlus One owners have had a turbulent year since their device was first released. The OnePlus One has yet to reach a full year in its availability and already, the company behind the device, OnePlus, has seen its fair share of controversy. Although many users possibly first took a gamble on the OnePlus One due to its adoption of Cyanogen OS as its default operating system, many owners have now come to love the device in its own right. Therefore, when the news came that OnePlus were working on their own homegrown OS, which has now become known as OxygenOS. Those users were left with a choice going forward of whether to go with Cyanogen OS 12 (Cyanogen’s take on Lollipop) or OxygenOS (OnePlus One’s take on Lollipop).

That said, in spite of the choice on offer, neither OS has been quick in coming or arriving. Since the moment Android 5.0 (Lollipop) was announced, OnePlus One users immediately started to look to both Cyanogen and OnePlus for when an ETA or OTA would arrive. The Good news finally came when OnePlus announced that OxygenOS would be arriving on March 27th and this would also be followed by CM12S on March 31st. Needless to say, both dates came and went without either OS arriving.

OxygenOS, did of course, finally arrive last week and is now available. However, those who were waiting on CM12S are still waiting. In spite of nearly two weeks passing since the original OnePlus touted dates. The reason given for the delay in both cases was that the OSes were waiting on certification from Google and could not rollout until this was received. Well, the latest on this ongoing saga, is Carl Pei of OnePlus has within the last hour, sent out a tweet confirming that certification for CM12S has finally been approved. In fact, according to the message (shown below), it has only just passed certification today. In spite of this though, the message also states that the rollout of the OTA still might be a couple of days away. Of course, there has been no official confirmation from Cyanogen on this yet. Either way though, if Pei is correct then CM 12S is one step closer to arriving.
