Verizon Sends out Lollipop for its Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Today we have some exciting news for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owners on the Verizon network – the long awaited update to Android 5.0 Lollipop is now being sent out OTA.  Even though Verizon has been last to the party for their upgrades, they now have seven devices that have been upgraded to Lollipop, although the Droid Turbo owners are still waiting for their very own Lollipop.  This OTA upgrade will roll out over the next day or two…to rush it along, you can always check for the update by heading over to: Settings ->About phone ->Software updates ->Check for updates. The update is Software Version LRX21V.N900VVRUEOB6, and it will be a big one, so stay by your Wi-Fi signal.

The Galaxy Note 3 was the first Samsung device to introduce us to a newer design – getting away from the all-plastic look to a more premium look with its faux leather backing.  This new software update to Lollipop will now introduce Galaxy Note 3 users to the world of Material Design that offers complex animations that are more fluid and use more vivid colors.  You will also see 3-D views and an overall, better experience.  At the same time, you will experience an improved performance in the platform application and Lollipop helps to optimize battery usage.  You should notice in just the basic interaction – bolder color and more fluid animation and interactions and the newer on/off toggle button updated look.

The Lock Screen has been updated to allow quick and easy access to the Phone and the Camera for added convenience.  You will have control over priority and privacy for lock screen verifications in the new Material Design look.  You can now utilize music control as a card for on the lock screen UI.  Samsung even redid TouchWiz to take advantage of the new Material Design – it has a brighter look and feel, with bolder colors and the fluid animation found in the Material Design theme.  Floating Action Button (FAB) are added to easily access emphasized features, such as adding a new contact or favorite, writing a text message to a contact, etc.  Multi-window icons make it easier to perform multi-tasking.
