Xiaomi has been extremely active as far as hardware launches go. The company has announced a lot of devices this year. Back in January, Xiaomi has announced the Mi Note, Mi Note Pro and Redmi 2 handsets along with a number of smart gadgets. They’ve done something similar at the end of last month when this China-based company announced the new variant of their Mi TV 2, a range of smart gadgets and the following smartphones: Redmi 2A, 2GB Mi 4 and the Pink version of Mi Note. That being said, Xiaomi is still expected to launch quite a few devices by the end of this year, and the next one will land tomorrow.
The company has already teased April 15 and April 23 announcements, which means we’ll get new hardware basically. Xiaomi will probably announce the leaked Mi 4i / Xiaomi “Ferrari” smartphone on April 23rd, and we still don’t know what to expect for tomorrow’s event. An interesting leak came our way today though, courtesy of @upleaks. The leaker has shared specifications of an upcoming Xiaomi Redmi device, quite probably the Redmi Note 2 which is expected to launch very soon. According to the leaker, the codename of this device is Xiaomi H3Y and the handset will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed with MIUI 6 on top of it. This handset will feature a 1080p (1920 x 1080) display and will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6795 64-bit octa-core processor. The 13-megapixel camera (Samsung’s S5K3M2 sensor) will be located on the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front (OmniVision’s OV5670 sensor).
This is all the information that the leaker was able to provide, but it’s more than enough to point our fingers at the Redmi Note 2. It makes all the sense in the world, the original Redmi Note was announced back in March 2014, so it’s about time Xiaomi announced its successor. These specifications also fit the description, even though we don’t know the display size nor the amount of RAM this device will offer in the end. You can expect a 5.5-inch display and at least 2GB of RAM though, but we’ll see.
