Meizu has been relatively quiet in the first quarter of this year, we haven’t seen much official info, not even that many rumors / leaks. Well, all of that changed a couple of weeks back, Alibaba and MediaTek invested in Meizu, and at the same time a ton of leaks and rumors started coming in. This China-based smartphone OEM has even scheduled a press event for June 2nd, where the company plans to introduce a new smartphone, and it seems like some smart gadgets will get introduced as well.
Anyhow, Meizu’s Vice President, Li Nan, has already confirmed that the upcoming device will be a part of the ‘Note’ line and that it will sport a physical home button. The company’s VP has, however, killed off any rumors that this device will sport a fingerprint scanner. We have been speculating that the company intends to announce the M1 Note’s successor, and it seems like a Chinese retailer, Jingdong Mall, just confirmed that fact. The company has teased the announcement of this handset on their official Weibo (Chinese social network) page, and along with that confirmed the arrival of the M1 Note 2 handset. We’re still not 100% sure that the device will be called that, but the M1 Note 2 naming seems the most probable outcome at this point (though the M2 Note naming is also a possibility).
According to some previous info, this thing will sport an oval home physical home button below the display. We’ve seen a ton of M1 Note 2 leaks thus far, and they’re not exactly go hand-in-hand with one another. Initial leaks have showed us a device which looks really similar to the M1 Note, but it sports a physical home button, while the latest leak suggests that the phone will look like the MX4 than the M1 Note. This handset will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM and will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core SoC, at least according to the latest reports. Either way, Meizu’s event is only a couple of days away, so stay tuned for that. We’ll report back if any additional info pops up in the meantime.
