Motorola’s President, Rick Osterloh, recently sent out a response via Twitter to a customer asking if the company was planning to release a new iteration of the widely popular and successful Moto X within the same time frame of the last release. Osterloh replied that Motorola is trying to launch devices on an annual cycle, this includes the flagship Moto X. While the company still hasn’t revealed anything else yet, new information has surfaced surrounding the highly anticipated third-generation of the Moto X. A new leak suggests that the upcoming addition to the Moto X family will include a 16-meagpixel rear-facing camera, with a new kind of technology called Clear Pixel. Not to mention, the next iteration of the Moto X is also now rumored to include a 5-megapixel front-facing sensor, both of which are a big improvement over the second-generation Moto X.
The Moto X, has been praised as one of the best devices that Motorola has ever released. This device shines in almost every aspect, from a great build quality to an operating system that is not so heavily modified; the Moto X is a device that attracts both power users and newcomers to the Android world. Now Motorola is planning to step up its game once more, with the upcoming third generation Moto X. The company will improve over some characteristics that their customers found lacking in past generations. One is the already mentioned camera, which was always considered that the image quality was never the best attribute. Not to mention, it didn’t include OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), meaning that there were some cases when a photo was taken turned out to be blurry due to the moving of the phone.
Apparently, the third generation Moto X will focus on solving these issues, as the leaked documents suggest a new 16MP sensor will be included, along with OIS. The new camera will be capable of recording slow motion video, similar to the iPhone 6, due to the fact that the new camera will capture up to 120fps at a 1080p resolution, and up to 240fps when recording at a 720p resolution. It is quite likely that Motorola will surely improve other aspects of its flagship device as well, creating the best iteration of the Moto X to date.
