Oppo R7, Oppo R7 Plus And Color OS 2.1 Are Now Official

Oppo R7 has been leaking like crazy over the last couple of months. This handset appeared in a number of images and videos, and at first, everyone thought it has no bezel on the sides. Well, it turned out that it does have minimal bezel on its sides, but thanks to the curved display which is placed on its display, and Oppo’s light reflection trick, you won’t even notice that if looking at the phone straight up. Either way, Oppo has confirmed a while ago that the phone will launch today alongside its sibling, the Oppo R7 Plus, both of which have already been confirmed by the company.

That being said, this China-based company has just unveiled the Oppo R7 and Oppo R7 Plus in China, let’s see what they have to offers. Starting with the Oppo R7, this handset features a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). The Oppo R7 is powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHh which ships with an Adreno 405 GPU. The 13-megapixel ISOCELL CMOS camera is located on the back of this device, and below the sensor itself, you’ll find the LED flash. That camera actually takes advantage of PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) tech, which should provide incredibly fast focus times. The Oppo R7 measures 143 x 71 x 6.3mm, weighs 139 grams and will ship with a 2,915mAh battery on the inside.

The Oppo R7 Plus, on the other hand, features a 6-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of in-built storage. This handset will ship with a huge 4,100mAh battery on the inside. The 13-megapixel camera is available on the back of this handset, and the phone is powered by MediaTek’s MT6795M octa-core SoC running at 1.9GHz along with a Power VR Rogue G6200 GPU. The Oppo R7 Plus also offers a fingerprint scanner on the back, below the camera. It is also worth noting that both Oppo R7 and Oppo R7 Plus feature the company’s VOOC Flash Charge technology, which is capable of charging up a 3,000mAh battery from 0 to 75% in just half an hour. Oppo’s charging technology is one of the fastest in the market, if not the fastest. Both the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus also offer 4G LTE connectivity, which was to be expected.

The company has also unveiled a new version of their Android skin, the Color OS 2.1. This skin is based of off Android Lollipop, and Oppo has redesigned their skin, introduced a couple of new features and optimized the skin. If you’d like to get more information regarding that, check out the second embedded video down below. Oppo didn’t talk much about this update though, other than the fact that the skin is redesigned and that it’s way smoother now.

The Oppo R7 is priced at 2,499 Yuan ($403), while the Oppo R7 Plus will cost 2,999 Yuan ($483). The Oppo R7 will be available via Jingdong Mall starting tomorrow, and we still don’t know when will the company launch the Oppo R7 Plus.
