The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge only just came out a about a month and a half ago, and we’re already talking about the Galaxy Note 5, and the new Galaxy Note Edge. Last year, Samsung debuted the Galaxy Note Edge along side the Galaxy Note 4 in Berlin at IFA. This year, they took the Edge a step further with the Galaxy S6 Edge and made both sides curved. Sammobile has some information on the new Galaxy Note 5 as well as the Project Zero 2 – which is the new Galaxy Note Edge. First things first, both will be unveiled at IFA in September. Which is what we expected, as every other Galaxy Note smartphone has been unveiled there.
One of the more interesting parts of this report out of Sammobile is that the Galaxy Note Edge 2 won’t have S Pen functionality, while the Galaxy Note 5 will keep that functionality. That is a bit surprising, to be honest. As that’s been the biggest selling point of the Galaxy Note line, aside from the size of the devices. Sammobile also points out that the model number of this smartphone is close to the Galaxy S6 Edge, and so is its codename.
Samsung will also be releasing a few accessories for the Galaxy Note 5. That includes the Clear View case and the S View case. They will also be available for the Project Zero 2. Additionally there is a “keyboard cover” that is being released for these devices as well. Which sounds like a case that is usually released with tablets, and not smartphones, even if they are phablets.
Onto the Galaxy Note 5, or Project Noble. This smartphone, obviously, is slated to compete with Apple’s iPhone 6S Plus which should be announced in the fall. Sammobile states that the Galaxy Note 5 will come with either a 2K or a 4K Super AMOLED display, and it will not be curved. There’s also going to be an updated Exynos 7422 octa-core processor along with the S Pen that everyone knows and loves. While the Project Zero 2 is going to have a 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch Super AMOLED dual-edge curved display, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 which is a hexa-core processor and is in the LG G4, as well as 32GB of storage, and 16MP and 5MP cameras on board.
