Earlier this week (just the last couple of days in fact) Samsung’s Active version of the Galaxy S6 appeared in some leaked image shots showing off the phones rear design and front face, carrying with it the familiar screws in the back we’ve seen on past versions of the Active. It also would appear to carry the same physical style navigation buttons down at the bottom which have been synonymous with the Active line as well. Technically the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active isn’t an official device just yet as Samsung themselves haven’t announced the coming of the phone, but the image leaks are pretty convincing and if that weren’t enough it now seems Samsung has outed the device inadvertently through the support page for their Samsung Plus program.
On the support page, Samsung lists a spread of devices which have support and compatibility for the Samsung Plus program, and among them is the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, sitting just under the Galaxy S6. The only odd thing about the page listing is that it shows an April 10th launch date next to the Galaxy S6 Active but the phone has yet to be released. While it may seem minor, the listing on this page confirms that the Galaxy S6 Active is happening, which may or may not have been a surprise to some.
Samsung has obviously yet to reveal the Galaxy S6 Active to the public, and so far the only leaks that have made their way to the web have been a couple of images and what are presumably a set of leaked press renders. As of right now there are no leaks on specifications, price, or actual launch dates for the phone, but if it’s anything like the last two Active models it will likely be an AT&T exclusive smartphone, and it’ll probably be Samsung’s most waterproof device to date once it launches. As this is the Active, it should also be highly ruggedized to withstand drops and dings much better than the standard Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, so if you’re prone to drops and damaging your electronics and you’re interested in the Galaxy S6, this might be the phone to wait for.
