Back in July 2014, Sony has announced the mid-range Xperia C3 handset. This device’s main selling point was its wide-angle front-facing camera, and the phone was actually dubbed a ‘selfie phone’. We’ve seen a couple of leaks recently, which were reportedly showing off its successor, the Xperia C4. Well, that handset was just announced by Sony, which is very unexpected considering that more or less everyone was expecting Sony to wait another month or two before they announce it. Either way, let’s see what Xperia C4 has to offer, shall we.
The Xperia C4 features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of in-built storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). This phone is powered by MediaTek’s MT6752 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz along with a Mali-T760 MP2 GPU. On the back of this device you’ll find a 13-megapixel snapper and an LED flash below it, while there’s a 5-megapixel front-facing located on the front side of this device and it’s also flanked by an LED flash. The front-facing camera actually equips an Exmor R sensor, which should provide rather solid images. This device will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed with Sony’s custom UI on top of Google’s OS. 4G LTE connectivity is also a part of the package here, and Sony said that this handset will be available in both single and dual-SIM variants. This device is also equipped with Sony’s 3D Surround Sound technology along with Clear Audio+, Clear Bass and xLOUD experience. The Xperia C4 measures 150.3 x 77.4 x 7.9mm and weighs 147 grams.
“Following the success of Xperia C3, we are proud to introduce Sony’s evolved PROselfie smartphone. Xperia C4 caters to consumers that want a smartphone that not only takes great photos, but also packs a punch. Benefiting from Sony’s camera expertise, the 5MP front-facing camera with 25mm wide-angle lens lets you capture perfect selfies, while its quality display and performance features provide an all-round advanced smartphone experience,” said Tony McNulty, Vice-President of Value Category Business Management at Sony Mobile Communications.
Sony has also mentioned that the Xperia C4 will go on sale in early June in select markets all over the world. A number of color variations will be available, but the company did not share any pricing details at this point though, we’ll let you know when something pops up.
