Live in Five is an Android application developed by AverMedia, and as you might expect from a company with a rich history in media applications, it’s designed to make broadcasting on YouTube a little easier. As with all other Android apps, you’ll need to download Live in Five from the Play Store. After that, you can go ahead and get started.
You’ll need to sign in using Google+, if you don’t have a Google+ account it’s surprisingly easy to get started. This makes the whole setup process really, really easy. The only thing that you need to be careful of is that your YouTube account and Google+ account are the same Google account (as in, they share the same GMail account).
Now, if this is the first time you’ve ever attempted to broadcast something live – as it was for me – then you’ll need to turn on the feature in your YouTube settings. This does complicate things somewhat, but there’s little that AverMedia can do about this, and it’s a safety feature on YouTube’s part.
Once you have this done, you’ll be able to take a look at the quick settings available to you. You can touch anywhere on the display to focus on whatever you like, and there are neat, easy to tap buttons for common settings such as the light, changing the camera from the rear to the front and more.
There’s a fun 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 countdown when Live in Five creates the live broadcast for you, which is a nice touch.
You can change a number of settings related to the broadcast on the right-hand side, like the name, whether or not it’s listed or unlisted (making it public or available to just those with the URL link). Quality modes available go all the way up to 1080p Full HD or even custom resolutions.
Live in Five is a great way to start broadcasting on YouTube for everyone, it’s an app that everyone can start using and it’s something you can use for whatever you like. Sharing just the link with someone (which is as easy as hitting the share button) means you could share a family wedding to people half a world away using easily understood technology.

Once you have everything set up, Live in Five makes it super-easy to share a live event with someone, whether that’s publicly to help raise awareness of a local band or something like that or just to share a child’s soccer game or something with relatives all over the world. AverMedia have created an app that’s easy to use for everyone, regardless of how much they know about YouTube or even Android in general. It’s free as well, which is always a bonus, and it’s a well-polished and reliable app at that.
