YU had plenty of news to share with us today. This India-based, Micromax-owned company has unveiled their much teased Yuphoria smartphone along with a couple of smart gadgets which we’ll talk about in a minute. The Yuphoria is a mid-range handset which is powered by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit SoC, has 2GB of RAM and is made out of metal. This handset also ships with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and Cyanogen OS 12 is installed on top of Google’s operating system. YU has really managed to get under the spotlight when they announced the price of this thing, the Yuphoria costs only Rs. 6,999 in India, which comes around to $109. That being said, YU has also announced some additional smart gadgets, the YUFit and HealthYU. The YUFit is basically a smartband, though it’s a bit different than the Mi Band by Xiaomi, for example. The YUFit actually has a small OLED display on the tom which will show you the time, number of steps you’ve taken a ton more info. This fitness band is actually powered by HealthifyMe, an OS from a company Micromax actually invested in quite recently. Anyhow, this band will basically perform like any other band, it will provide all sorts of fitness information and also send you notifications from your handset directly to your wrist. You’ll need the YUfit applications in order to get things going. These are the features YU decided to highlight: Steps Tracking, Sleep Tracking, Distance Walked, Calories Burnt, Time, Incoming Calls, Incoming Messages and Find My Phone feature. The YUFit is priced at Rs. 999 ($16), and it will be available for purchase next month in India.
The other device mentioned above, HealthYU, is also fitness-oriented. This gadget monitors your blood pressure, body temperature, oxygen level, heart rate, respiration rate and ECG. HealthYU is monitoring everything in real time, so you can basically send your data instantly wherever you want, your doctor’s computer for example. This device is really small, and it transmits data to your phone via Bluetooth connection. YU has also mentioned that this device can work with any smartphone and that it will cost Rs. 4,999 ($78) when it launched next month.
