Acer might not be one of the biggest names when it comes to Android, but they’ve steadily built themselves a decent audience throughout parts of Europe as well as the Middle East and Africa. Known for lower-end hardware that’s affordable while also offering a decent overall experience. Right now in Taiwan, Computex 2015 is well under way and we’ve already seen some great stuff come from ASUS this week with the new ZenWatch 2 as well as the new ZenPad line of Android tablets. Acer is not one to go quiet, and this week will launch new Android tablets as well as new Chromebox for those looking for inexpensive computer to get online with.
There’s not a huge amount of detail known about these new products just yet, but we know that Acer is planning on releasing follow-up products to older lines. Starting with the 8-inch Iconia One 8 (B1-830) which replaces the B1-820 model. This info is coming from a pre-event press release and there’s little Acer is sharing with us just yet, but we know it’ll be running Android 5.1 Lollipop, feature an HD 8-inch display and Precision Plus technology which lets users use a pencil or something similar on the display just like you would a stylus. They’re also releasing the Acer Iconia One 7 (B1-760HD) which is also running Lollipop, and will feature a 7-inch 720P IPS display and be available in a number of colors as is the norm for Acer tablets.
As for the Chromebox of the show, the Chromebox CX12 is an improved version of the Chromebox CX1 and will come with either Intel Celeron or Intel Core i3 processors. A 4GB or 8GB DDR3 RAM option will be available and the usual outputs and inputs are all here including four USB ports and an HDMI-out for a monitor or display. Chromeboxes have proven popular devices over the years, and while pricing isn’t know for this – or any of the other products for that matter – we’re sure it’ll be available at a reasonable price. As for the new Android tablets from Acer, we should have more info on those later this week.
