Black Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Leaks Again In Render

There’s no denying that Samsung released a very good phone with the Galaxy S6 or the version of that phone that includes a unique curved screen. The company was criticized because they used an iterative and uninspiring design for quite a while and the overuse of plastic in their construction certainly didn’t help, so we can agree that this year Samsung is heading towards the right direction in terms of build quality by using a metal frame and glass in front and back of their newest flagships. With that construction, some sacrifices had to be made, like the lack of a Micro SD card slot and the battery is no longer removable, another feature that is nowhere to be found in the newer devices was introduced in last year’s generation, the water and dust resistance thanks to the IP67 certification.

Some users will be fine by making those sacrifices, but some others would definitely miss the aforementioned features. For the last group of people, it seems that Samsung is making a variation of the phone which will be called Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. That device has been leaked a lot recently and the name would suggest that it will feature most of the specs of the flagships while adding some extra ruggedness for those who enjoy outdoor activities. The first picture of the device was a live photo of the black variation while most recent leaks have been renders of the phone in white or a bluish tone, both of them with a camouflage paint job. Now, thanks to the leakster @evleaks, there’s an official looking render of the device in its black color, proving its existence and that the launch date may be soon, in addition to have recently being caught on Samsung’s Support page.

Every render or leaked photo shows a prominent AT&T logo on the back, so it will probably be an exclusive phone for that carrier, at least by the time it launches. The previous generation of Active devices brought not only the IP67 certification, but also a MIL-STD-810G that would allow the device to survive a drop from 1.2 meters as well as resistance to a lot of environments, so these two certifications will probably be part of this new device.
