As reported last week, the new LG G Stylus was making its way into Canada via WIND Mobile and Videotron, but knew that it would be appearing on other carriers as well. We are happy to report that this mid-range device, complete with a stylus is making its way to Fido, and for less money – only $30 if you sign-up for a 24 month term or buy it for $300 outright. You can save yourself $20 on the 24-month term or $30 buying it outright over WIND or Videotron.
LG did a nice job of cramming in such decent specifications for the money, although my guess is they did not have to ‘cram’ too much under the G Stylo’s 5.7-inch IPS LCD HD display…competing with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, in size only…with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 258 pixels-per-inch (PPI). For processing power, they turned to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core clocked at 1.2GHz with an Adreno 306 GPU. This version uses 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, but you can add an additional 32GB of storage via a microSD card.
This mid-range device’s only real weak points, would be the 720p display and 1GB of RAM (they do make a 2GB model), but once you get past those specs, the LG G Stylo stands up very nicely in the processing department and camera area. It sports a 13MP main camera that takes nice photos according to our review and even the 5MP front-facing camera (FFC) is sized to take great social media selfies or video chatting experience. LG did not skimp on the 3000mAh battery, the same size that is in their LG G4 flagship. With a 720p display and Snapdragon 410 processor, you are easily looking at over a day on a full charge.
The G Stylo comes with the usual suspects – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC Capability, an FM Radio and a microUSB port for charging and data transfer. What really sets this device apart from other mid-range models is the inclusion of an Enhanced Stylus Pen and QuickMemo+. The G Stylo has its own silo so you will always have your stylus with you and ready to pull-out to write, draw and edit pictures with its on board software package. It certainly does not have all of the technology of the Galaxy Note’s S-Pen, but look at the price difference. The LG G Stylo represents itself quite well for $300.
