Meizu has wrapped up the company’s press event in Beijing. This smartphone OEM has announced the Meizu M2 Note handset, as we thought that would. This device is a direct successor to the Meizu M1 Note which launched at the end of last year, and it really does have lots to offer considering its price point. We’ve already covered this handset at length, check out the announcement or full specs of this handset. We’re here to talk about something else, because Meizu M2 Note is not the only device that was announced at the press conference. The company has released a number of rather odd teasers prior to the event itself, which suggested that an additional hardware might be presented as well… and that’s exactly what happened.
Next to their new ‘Note’ handset, the company has showcased the ‘Lynx Box’. What is that? Well, it’s essentially a TV box. If you take a look at the provided images in the gallery down below, you’ll see that this is a small box which ships with a remote controller, while a power supply and an HDMI cable can also be found in the box. There are over 6,000 movies available via Lynx Box, and the vast majority is free. Meizu has partnered up with a number of companies in order to provide video content through this box: Discovery, Lionsgate, and a number of other companies, mainly Chinese ones though. The Lynx Box is powered by MediaTek’s MT8685 quad-core processor which ships with a Mali 450 GPU for graphics. This thing also packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.
The Lynx Box is a direct competitor to the Xiaomi Box, which is actually powered by the exact same processor. Meizu’s Lynx Box is priced at 199 Yuan, but if you purchase the Meizu M2 Note, you can buy this thing for only 99 Yuan. It is possible that this offer is valid for the purchase of any Meizu-branded device, but we can’t confirm that at the moment. If you’d like to take a close look at the Lynx Box, check out the gallery down below.
