New Android Version of Imgur Features Material Design

The internet is great for many things, one of those being the cavalcade of images you can find on virtually any subject. Imgur has solidified itself as one of the largest communities for which people share images of a wide variety, and their Android app just received a huge revamp with a brand new design and tweaks that should make it much more enjoyable for users. If this will be your first time experiencing Imgur from your Android device, there was never a better time to jump in, as this new version should be much more bug free which generally should result in a better user experience.

Imgur describes this as being their first fully native Android app, although it is not a completely new app for Android as Imgur was available to download and use prior to today. This version is new though and brings with it some bug fixes and improvements, namely for one which was causing users to get stuck in an image loop. This would be understandably annoying and inconvenient for users so naturally it was an issue that the team had to address. Imgur also redesigned the gallery from the ground up that takes away any of the unimportant stuff from before and focuses more on what makes Imgur, Imgur, which is simply the images themselves and the robust community with which people can converse, comment and share with each other.

The new app’s upload capabilities have also been refreshed, and users can now find images easier than ever before as they can now also browse images by topic. Users will also find that the Imgur app has been given a little bit of a more material design style UI, albeit without much color and vibrancy. There is a small FAB-like button at the bottom for taking and uploading new images through the app, and the hamburger menu resides to the left of the display when swiping inward. Overall, those who use Imgur on the desktop should be happy with the results of how this new app works, and since it’s free you can download it to check it out, and if you’re not happy with it you can always unintsall and go back to using the website through the browser.
