Ditalix B is the next generation of the Ditalix live wallpaper for Android, currently in Beta. Ditalix B creates interactive live wallpaper that features shapes and transitions on top of your choice of wallpaper. It’s based on a completely new engine, and uses less batter life and runs faster as a result. With a myriad of different effects, colors and styles to choose from, Ditalix B has a lot going for it. Fans of Live Wallpapers will have a lot to work with as there are hundreds of different combinations to choose from and the overall look and feel is entirely up to you. Let’s take a closer look.
Despite the fact that Ditalix B is in Beta, you can go ahead and download it from the Play Store as you would any other sort of Android app or game. Setting it as a Live Wallpaper is done however you would on your Android device.
This is a look at the default theme set when you first get started with Ditalix, and there are oodles of different settings that you can play around with.
There are a number of settings you can change for each setting, and you can even choose a different background to be displayed underneath your shapes.
I found the different settings to be a little confusing at first, but as with a lot of things, you just need to experiment and see which one you like the best. Here’s the final result after tinkering around a while:
One thing that Ditalix B has going for it over other Live Wallpaper apps is that you can choose a name for your theme and then upload it to the Internet. This is cool because other users can download these themes and vote on them.
The colorlovers.com API provides access to more than a handful of shapes – there are in fact over 120k and growing daily. The same can be said of the patterns browser, also using colorlovers API. There is a very handy search option in the top right corner of both browsers.
With Ditalix, you can go ahead and create some really cool-looking live wallpapers, like this design below. However, figuring out how to do just that can be a little tricky at first.
Right now, Ditalix B is currently in testing, but already I am pleasantly surprised. Just as the developers state, the new engine really does deliver excellent performance, and in fact I hardly knew I was running a live wallpaper, aside from the fancy patterns of course. There are a whole lot of options here, which is great, as there’s a lot of variety for users wishing to express themselves on their homescreens. Still, I would have liked some sort of tutorial or introduction to help make it nice and easy for new users to come up with some sort of idea of what they want out of their live wallpaper with Ditalix B.

- Designed for Android 5.0 and above with great Material Design hooks in menus and smooth performance.
- Very little hit on battery life, making it simple to use this all day long, all the time if you’d like.
Cons
- An explanation of what each effect does would be nice.
- Background option seems to clash with the patterns and their movements a little bit.
Overall, Ditalix B is an app that’s currently in beta, and something that all users keen on live wallpapers should try out. It might be a little confusing at first, but there’s so much on offer here that it’d be difficult to explain it all, but an introduction would be nice. It’s still in beta, so there’s work to be done, but we’re sure that more features will be added over time, and it’ll become a quality option for users to work with in the future.
