Push IT is an Android game from the same developer behind ZiBo and other arcade style Android games. This is a new take on the classic puzzle game, and is all about being as simple as possible to enjoy. It’s good fun, and doesn’t expect too much from its players. While Push IT features ads in the game, they can removed via an inexpensive in-app purchase. For the most part though, Push IT is simply a puzzle game that asks players to move blocks to their right place, however players must use their brains to make sure that they don’t get the blocks stuck, as this will result in game over. Those looking for a light and unassuming puzzle game should keep reading.
Just as with other games on Android, you can download Push IT from the Play Store. Like we said, the game is free-to-play, and only features an in-app purchase to remove ads.
How to play Push IT is really pretty simple and there’s very little that you need to master, really.
The first few levels are pretty easy, and I didn’t find the need to pause for thought much at all.
A lot of the time in Push IT, all you need to do is to figure out an alternate route, so that you can in fact move the orange squares to where they need to be.
In the above shot, I’ve failed to do that, and I’ve backed myself into a corner, no longer able to move the orange squares to where they need to go. On a second try however, I spent a little more time and managed to get the level right.
Sokoban is a game of logic, and in Push IT, you need to spend quite a bit of time to figure out the right way of going about a level. At the end of it all however, you will be awarded a score for you to improve at a later try.
Your best score is display on the main menu of Push IT, and over time you will come across some very tricky levels, indeed.
Sokoban has been a puzzle style that I haven’t spent a huge amount of time with in the past, but with Push IT I was happy to experience a type of puzzle game that’s simple, and relaxing. Sure, some players might find this a little boring, as there are no whizz-bang effects or cute characters as there are in other titles. For me though, Push IT’s approach to a low-key Sokoban game on Android works well, and even though the first few levels are quite easy, things get more difficult from there and many levels will stop you in your tracks and ask you to think quite carefully about your next move and how you approach the puzzle as a whole.
Ratings
- Speed (4/5) – The pacing in Push IT is pretty nice, and if you were looking for something more relaxing than other puzzle games, then this is a good option.
- Features (4/5) – For some, this might be a little basic, but if you’re fed up with style over substance, then this is a decent option to try out.
- Theme (3.5/5) – While there’s no need for fancy effects in a game like this, it would have been nice to see something a little extra where presentation is concerned.
- Overall (4/5) – A solid, if not unexciting, Sokoban game, Push IT is a change of pace from other, more stylistic puzzlers.
Pros
- Super-simple controls make this a game for any and all ages or skill levels.
- Later puzzles are really quite tricky, giving players a lot to think about.
- Good game for the elderly, as there’s nothing to get in the way of actually solving the puzzle, and the controls are easy.
- Doesn’t ask for in-app purchases to help with the levels or open up more of the game, just to get rid of ads.
Cons
- Some music or better-looking graphics would be nice.
- Five-second video ads are pretty annoying, and quite frequent, but they can be removed for not too much.
Push IT – Sokoban Puzzle is a fun game, and while there could definitely be more in the way of presentation, there’s not too much to complain about here. It’s simple, the controls are easy to learn and work with, and the logic-based puzzles get your brain moving.
