Asus is one of the biggest tech companies in the world. This Taiwan-based company has unveiled their ZenFone 2 line of devices back in January during CES, but the company hasn’t really announced many devices since then. They’ve been really busy trying to launch the ZenFone 2 in as many markets as possible, and it seems like their ZenFone 2 sales are going really well thus far. That being said, Asus has announced a rather interesting new device in China recently. let’s see what it has to offer.
The company has unveiled the Pegasus 2 Plus handset, which is a direct successor to the Pegasus X002 which was announced last year. The Pegasus 2 Plus was announced in Nanjing, China, and it sports really solid specs. The Asus Pegasus 2 Plus features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage (depending on which version you choose). This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor, and a 3,030mAh battery is also a part of this package. The 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this handset, and an 8-megapixel snapper is available up front. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device, and Asus’ Zen UI is available on top of Google’s operating system. The device doesn’t sport any capacitive buttons on its body, but a set of on-screen buttons, as you can see in the images down below. It has thin side bezels, but considering the black bars are also present, they’re slightly thicker than they seem when the device is powered off.
This handset will be available in White and Rose Gold color options, and it will hit the market this September. This handset is made out of metal (quite probably aluminum), and it will roll out to Asian countries first. It is also quite possible that it will stay exclusive to Asia, considering it succeeds the Pegasus X002, but we’re only guessing at this point. It is possible that Asus plans to release this device in a number of markets, we’ll let you know once the company decides to share more detail regarding its availability, so stay tuned for that.
