Samsung recently unveiled the second generation of its Galaxy Tab S2 tablets. Similar to when the company released the first generation, the two different sized tablets are among the most powerful right now. In fact, they are being marketed as the thinnest tablets available, as the profile for both is just 5.6 mm. To achieve this, Samsung also upgraded the built quality, now using a metallic frame opposed to the plastic based construction used in the previous generation. The tablets were officially announced rather quietly and the company didn’t specify when would they be available, but now some of those details have been revealed.
The new Galaxy Tab S2 tablets use a 4:3 aspect ratio, which is better for reading, so they are now both presented in a vertical format. They are offered in an 8-inch display option as well as a larger one with a screen measuring 9.7 inches. The Super AMOLED displays in both sport a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels, making them a little less dense than in the previous generation, for those keeping count, but they are still very crisp. While the Exynos 5433 is not the company’s latest processor, Samsung decided it was powerful enough to integrate it in the new tablets, plus the 3 GB of RAM should provide a smooth experience while navigating through the tablet’s functions. There are 32 GB and 64 GB of storage options, but either way there’s a microSD card slot for additional storage. The smaller model includes a 4,000 mAh battery while the one in the larger model has a capacity of 5,870 mAh. You can check how they perform in a video by clicking here.
The tablets have been spotted in Samsung’s official site in the Netherlands, they are preparing for pre-order and they will be shipping on September 3. The price for the smaller tablet with Wi-Fi only and 32 GB of internal storage is €399 and it’s only available in black color. The larger one can be pre-ordered in black or white colors for €499 with 32 GB and Wi-Fi connectivity, and even if the LTE version can be seen on the site although it’s not available to pre-order just yet. The 8-inch tablet is also supposed to have an LTE version, but it’s nowhere to be found, as well as the ones with 64 GB of memory.
