Smartwatches continue to be at the top of the agenda for many manufacturers and as such there nearly always seems to be a new smartwatch being announced or released and in the news. In fact, it was only a few weeks ago when Asus made it known that their next generation ZenWatch, the ZenWatch 2 was set to be released in Q3 of this year. This is the follow up to the previously generation Asus ZenWatch which launched back at last year’s IFA event in Berlin. Well, the benefit to such a high and routine turnover of devices is that the predecessors fall out of favour. The benefit of that falling usually come in the form of a fall in the price too.
In fact, this seems to be exactly what is happening today as the Google Store has now dropped the price of the original ZenWatch down to only $129.99. This is quite a steep drop from the $200 price the watch was at before. As such, if you are not interested in grabbing the latest version of the Watch and would rather pick up a more affordable option then this might be the time to make a move on the ZenWatch.
If you need a quick reminder on what you can get for the newly reduced $129.99 price then the Asus ZenWatch comes equipped with a 1.63-inch curved AMOLED display and a 320 x 320 resolution. Inside, the ZenWatch comes loaded with 512MB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor (clocking at 1.2GHz). Storage on offer is set as 4GB as standard and the ZenWatch offers Bluetooth 4.0 support. a heart rate monitor and is IP55 waterproof certified. So, all in all, not a bad little device at the new price. Of course, there is no way to know for sure if this is a permanent price drop although it does seem likely with the next-gen device en route. Not to mention, this has been happening quite frequently with other previous generation watches recently.
