LG G Stylo & Leon On T-Mobile Receiving Android 5.1.1 Update

The race for Lollipop has been ongoing almost exactly since the moment the Android 5.0 (Lollipop) was unveiled in all its glory. That said, with a number of devices now seeing their initial Android 5.x updates arrive, the race has switched to the more minor updates that are now coming through. If the news of late is anything to go by, then Motorola is one of the companies who has been making massive strides over the last week. That said, it seems a couple of unlikely contenders in the Lollipop race are also seeing their updates now arriving.

LG introduced two mid-range devices quite recently. To be honest, they have released quite a few over the last few months, however, the two in question are the phablet sized stylus touting LG G Stylo and in contrast, the much smaller sized LG Leon. Both devices offer a decent level of specs but are unashamedly mid-range in their approach and their pricing. Well, the latest on these two devices is that it seems on T-Mobile, both are currently in the process of receiving their update to Android 5.1.1. The update in itself, will not be a massive change to those who already own the devices, as they both did come running on Android 5.0 from launch. However, as is the case with the Android 5.1 updates in general, they both will see a number of major(ish) bug fixes and performance improvements coming with the update.

In terms of the actual updates, the listings on T-Mobile actually date back a couple of days and therefore, the OTA is probably well in effect by know. In terms of the G Stylo, the update is coming with build number H63110e and weighs in at 428.6 MB. The Leon update is slightly smaller (316.2 MB) and comes with the build number H34510e. As such, if you own either of these devices and have yet to see the update land, then chances are you will soon enough. At present the update info from T-Mobile states the update is only available over WiFi, although cellular downloads are scheduled to begin for the G Stylo and Leon from July 9th and 10th respectively.
