The third generation of Motorola’s mid-range warrior, the Moto G 2015, is all set to be officially introduced in simultaneous launch events to be held by the company in New York, London, New Delhi and Sao Paulo on Tuesday. While all the leaks over the last few weeks leading up to tomorrow’s event have left little suspense in terms of the spec-sheet of the upcoming device, the exact pricing in various markets around the world is still something people have been waiting for. US Cellular is already fixing to price the upcoming smartphone at $180 if earlier reports are to be believed, and now, latest reports from India seem to suggest that the two rumored variants are all set to be priced either side of the second generation Moto G’s price tag from last year – at least in India.
According to reports circulating in the Indian tech media on Monday, the country’s largest online retailer Flipkart had temporarily listed the device on its site, which gave away the probable pricing of the smartphone in the country. The 1 GB RAM / 8 GB ROM version is set to get a price-tag of Rs. 11,999 ($190) in the world’s third largest mobile market. However, there’s no word on the pricing of the beefier 2 GB RAM / 16 GB ROM version as of now. The second generation Moto G was originally launched with a price-tag of 12,999 ($205) last year. As for the now-withdrawn listing, some reports have even claimed that the device listing was available only on the Flipkart mobile app, and not on its full site, but the veracity of such claims could not be independently established.
Coming to the Moto G (3rd generation), various leaks, including the listing on Flipkart, seem to suggest that the device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset, which comes with a quad-core CPU clocked at a frequency of 1.4 GHz, and an Adreno 306 GPU clocked at 400 MHz. The smartphone will feature a 5-inch 720p display, which will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The device is said to come in two variants, with the cheaper one featuring 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage, whereas a pricier version is also said to be on the cards, which will come with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The device is set to come with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, and will have Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed.
