This week, Motorola announced some new products. However they did say there would be more coming. Which pretty much left the door open for a new DROID or two with Verizon. Motorola announced three new smartphones this week, in the Moto X Play, Moto X Style and Moto G 3rd Gen. Now it appears that the back cover and chassis for the new DROID 2015 has just leaked out.
We can tell from the back cover that it’s going to be using the same design language as the devices announced earlier this week. On the back, you see that strip that houses the camera, flash and Motorola’s dimple. It also appears to be sporting a triangle pattern on the back. It could be of the same soft-touch material that the Moto X Pure has, which would mean it’ll be very easy to hold on to. As there is plenty of grip to the Moto X Pure. You can also see that the frame is indeed metal this time around. Definitely nice to see that on all of Motorola’s devices this year.
Something else that caught our attention is the Qi Wireless charging coil that is on the inside of the back cover. The Motorola DROID Turbo last year did support Qi Wireless charging, however most of us just stuck to the turbo charger since it had a huge 3900mAh battery and wireless charging that would take just too long to do.
Last year, the DROID Turbo really rebooted the DROID line, in a lot of people’s eyes. For the simple fact that it had top-of-the-line everything, which we hadn’t seen in a DROID in quite some time. It featured a 5.2-inch QHD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB of storage and a 21MP camera. Along with the 3900mAh battery we mentioned earlier. Quite simply it was a beast. So how can Motorola top that this year? Well we shall find out pretty soon. The DROID Turbo was announced in October of 2015, so we should see some new DROIDs pretty soon from Motorola and Verizon. Remember that Motorola is the exclusive partner for the DROID brand, so we won’t be seeing any from HTC or Samsung like we have in the past.
