Samsung has announced the company’s flagship smartphones for this year, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Both of these devices were announced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona back in March. These are also the first metal unibody smartphones Samsung has ever announced, and represent a significant change in Samsung’s premium level smartphones. That being said, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 phablet is one of the most anticipated devices of this year, no doubt about it. It was originally though that it will launch in September during IFA, as it does every year, but that won’t be the case this year, read on.
After a number of rumors pointing to an earlier launch of the Galaxy Note 5, Samsung has scheduled an ‘Unpacked‘ event for August 13th. The Galaxy Note 5 will almost certainly going to be announced at said event, and the rumored Galaxy S6 Edge+ might appear at the event as well. Samsung has scheduled the event yesterday, and now we have some new rumors to focus on. According to a tweet by Eldar Murtazin, Galaxy Note 5 won’t be available in Russia for the first new month after Samsung releases it. This rumor actually goes hand-in-hand with some earlier ones, suggesting Samsung might opt for selective Galaxy Note 5 launch.
Some previous rumors suggested that the Galaxy Note 5 won’t initially be available in Europe, which seems rather unrealistic at the time, but more and more rumors point in that direction. The previous rumor has listed South Korea, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Asia as the countries to which the phablet will arrive first, and other areas will follow. These rumors still seem a bit far-fetched, Samsung’s Galaxy Note line is international, and one of the most recognizable mobile brands in the world, it’s kind of hard to believe Samsung would do something like this. Also, keep in mind that the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge launches were spot on, the two devices launched every almost simultaneously. Either way, we’ll find out what this Korean tech giant is planning soon enough, stay tuned for more info.
