Samsung Announces 'Unpacked 2015' Event For August 13th

Samsung is easily the leading Android smartphone manufacturer, offering up plenty of handset choices for consumers across low-end, mid-range, and high-end markets. Their two most popular smartphone lines are the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note lineups, and while the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were announced and launched earlier this year, consumers are still waiting on Samsung to announce their next generation device in the Note series, the long awaited and much anticipated Galaxy Note 5. There have been plenty of rumors surrounding this next device from the South Korean tech giant, with much of the speculation leading us to believe that the Galaxy Note 5 will make its debut to the world sometime this next month.

This is typically out of order for Samsung as they have generally announced the next device in the Note lineup at IFA which usually takes place in the beginning of September. This year it has been rumored that Samsung will launch the device either on August 12th or 13th, and those rumors are no longer speculation as Samsung has just sent out invites for their 2015 Unpacked event, which takes place next month on August 13th, 2015. The time of the event starts at promptly 11AM EST, with doors opening about an hour earlier at 10AM. For those of us on the west coast, that means the event will be starting at 8AM PST due to the time difference.

The event takes place in New York City at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, and as past Unpacked events have been the launchpad for Samsung Galaxy Note successors, we can expect to see them unveil the Galaxy Note 5 this year on that day. That may not be all Samsung announces however, as it’s been rumored numerous times that they may be launching the Galaxy S6 Edge+ alongside the Galaxy Note 5 this year as a larger version of the original Galaxy S6 Edge closer to the size of the Galaxy Note 5 but coming without the S Pen. The Galaxy Note 5 is said to sport a Samsung Exynos 7422 octa-core processor with 4GB of RAM and a 5.7-inch Quad HD screen, with others rumors speculating it may have an auto-ejecting S Pen among other things. August 13th isn’t too far out from now, so all the official details will be made public soon enough.
