There’s a clear race into developing and releasing popular smartphone handsets that feature little to practically no bezels. Sony seems to be taking bezels into serious consideration with an upcoming smartphone that will be announced by next month which features very narrow bezels, something that might put the Japanese based company back on track for their mobile department. You might have heard about the codenamed Sony Lavender before, a supposed device with very narrow bezels that will be releasing within August. Several tech enthusiasts have pondered as to what the official name may be for Sony Lavender but another smartphone being developed by Sony has emerged online set to release the same time. Both of these devices when announced, may be the Xperia T4 Ultra and the Xperia C5 Ultra.
Supposed leaked specs have released outside of China that showcases a new smartphone other than the Sony Lavender in development. In the past, the speculation of the Sony Lavender is that the handset would be launched as the Xperia T4 Ultra or the Xperia C5 Ultra but with the announcement of another device releasing about the same time as the Sony Lavender could lead to both Xperia devices being announced officially. As mentioned, the mobile department within Sony hasn’t been doing all that well compared to other big name manufacturers like Samsung, and with these new devices that contain little to no bezels, it may actually help bring the Xperia smartphone lineup into the limelight a little better. For those who are still in the dark about the Sony Lavender, the device is rumored to contain a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Located on the rear will be a 13-megaixel camera and powering it all up is a MediaTek MT6752 64-bit octa-core SoC at 1.7GHz. Right out of the box, it’s said to be running Google’s Android 5.0 Lollipop layered under the Sony UI skin.
This new latest device which is titled currently as the Sony E5706 will feature a slightly larger 5.8-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Located on the rear will be a 16-megapixel camera with the front face of this handset holding an 8-megapixel camera. Cracking open the device, you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset with 3GB of RAM. Right out of the box, the Sony E5706 will run on Google’s Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with a Sony skin also layered on top. There are still plenty of details left unmarked as of right now. Also, with these being supposed leaks and rumors, we won’t know the official specifications of both devices until Sony makes the announcement later this August. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how well these two handsets fare into the market if and when they release.
