ES File Explorer is an Android app that has been around for a long, long time now and has become one of the most popular file explorer apps on Android, with good reason. It not only helps users organize their files, but it can now browse the web, play music, open all media formats as well as manage network files, connect to a Chromecast device and Android TV boxes. If there’s something that involves file management, be it local or on a network, then there’s a strong possibility that ES File Explorer has what you need. It’s packed full of features, so many that listing them all here would take a long, long time. So, why don’t we just see what some of the headlining features are?
You’ll first need to download ES File Explorer from the Play Store. From there you can open up the app and get it started.
The first thing that happens is that ES File Explorer gives users an introduction on just how to use the interface, which is a nice touch. Getting access to everything that ES File Explorer has to offer is easy as sliding out the menu from the side.
Since the last time that I used ES File Explorer, it has gained the ability to be a web browser, and a pretty decent one at that.

ES File Explorer does a fantastic job of linking to and sharing to a myriad of different network services and whatnot, this makes ES File Explorer one of the more versatile options out there.
Speaking of versatility, ES File Explorer is an excellent option for those using a tablet, as it makes good use of the extra screen real estate.
As well all of the usual file explorer features, ES File Explorer can also be used as an application manager, too.
ES File Explorer has evolved over the years to offer a myriad of different services. There are options available for root users, those looking to manage network file resources and more. It’s pretty astonishing, really, and there’s not much that ES File Explorer doesn’t do. If you’re in need of something to manage files and such on your smartphone, then ES File Explorer is a decent option to choose.

- Overall (4.5/5) – With every file manager, app manager, media browser and even root browser feature that you’d ever want, ES File Explorer has everything you could ever need.

- Makes better use of the interface on tablets by using the extra space provided.
- Manages pretty much every type of media you can throw at it without any issues.
- Helps to manage apps as well as files and folders without much needed to be done on the user’s end.
- Root users can take advantage of extra features in the same app, without the need to go ahead and download something else.
Cons
- User interface is good-looking, but it hasn’t been changed for a while, and a fresh coat of paint would be nice.
- Tabs can be a little difficult to navigate.
ES File Explorer has been around for some time now, and it’s no wonder that it continues to prove itself such a popular and versatile option for those on Android. It makes great use of the added space on tablets, works with every piece of media going and even manages network files and folders without a care in the world. A truly excellent file browser for smartphones and tablets alike, there’s so much on offer that it’s unlikely the majority of users reach its limit.
