Stache is an Android messenger that’s free to use and designed to be colourful and simple to connect with your friends, and thanks to multiple profiles, gamers can connect to different groups easily. State is not only a messaging app that allows people to send images, join groups and chat in groups or one-on-one but it also allows users to have up to three profiles at one time, and switch between them whenever they like. There are colourful themes that people can change between and it’s nice and easy to send photos and such back and forth. A Japanese-made messenger, Stache is clearly a little different from the rest, thanks to the multiple profiles feature
First of all, you’ll need to download Stache from the Play Store, and then sign up for an account. Thankfully, there’s no need for a phone number here, all you need to do is use an email address.
Getting your account set up is refreshingly simple, and there are no hoops to jump through. The only other thing that you need to do is to set up a personal label for friends and then a username for everyone else.
You’ll want to invite some friends as well, after all it’s no fun not having any one to talk to, is it?
As Stache is a Japanese app, it’s unsurprising that LINE is listed here. Here in the West however, I had no problems getting invites from my friends. I really enjoyed the member ID numbers, this reminds me of BBM and it’s super-easy to tell someone a set of digits instead of a username you might misspell.
You can choose your friends and groups to talk to from a quick and easy menu:
Creating a group is really nice and easy, all you need to do is to choose a title and then invite your friends. I wanted to start a group for my PS4 friends.
In a chat, you can send text and pictures for free, and they all appear nice and quickly inline.
There are a number of different settings that you can tweak as well, which make it nice and easy to block users and more.
Stache sets itself apart by offering users the ability to use three profiles within one app, which is why Stache is a good option for gamers. Players can have a personal account for themselves and their friends, as well as a profile for their gameplay videos and fans. See here, I have one for my friends and family, and then another for my gaming antics.
Stache is an app that’s best aimed at users or gamers looking for something colourful, and easy to use. Thanks to the streamlined invitation process, it’s fairly easy to actually invite your friends into the app and get talking to people. A couple of stand out features for me was that it’s so easy to add and invite friends. I was able to invite friends using Gmail, and it was really easy to add friends back in, all I had to was copy their membership number, and these numbers will be easy to hand out in real life as well, as they’re not as long as a phone number. Creating and managing a group is nice and simple and this is a good feature for gamers, as they can have separate groups for different games or clans. Being able to have up to three profiles in one account makes it a great app for gamers as they can have a profile for their YouTube channel or their gamer friends, and another for just friends and family. Overall, I think that while Stache doesn’t offer the most amount of features for a messaging app, it’s simple, colourful and really easy to use, something that a lot of other messaging apps simply aren’t these days.

- Overall (4/5) – Stache isn’t the most featured by any means, but it’s colourful, easy to use and quick as well.
Pros
- Easy to get setup and easy to invite friends with simple membership numbers, too.
- Ability to manage three profiles helps set Stache apart from the rest out there.
- Pictures and messages blend together nicely in group or one-on-one conversations.
- Changing the theme makes this nice and colourful for all users.
Cons
- Doesn’t have quite as many features as other apps out there.
Hopefully, Stache will get better over time, as right now it’s a colourful and fun, yet limited messaging application. It’s easy to use, quick and inviting friends is really simple. On the face of it though, this is just another alternative for free SMS messaging. Gamers and users with very different friend groups will appreciate being able to have multiple profiles of course, and I’m sure that a lot of users will find something of value here. Still, it’s extremely simple to use, it’s quick and it’s free, so there’s little reason not to give this a try, and it’s certainly a breath of fresh air.
