This morning reports came in that Spirit might be planning to launch the Galaxy Grand Prime on their network in the coming days. Well, following the initial reports, Sprint have now officially announced the launch of the Galaxy Grand Prime on their network. According to the announcement, the Galaxy Grand Prime will be available on Sprint starting from July 10th (this Friday). The price, as previously reported will be $240 for the phone outright. Those interested in a more long term commitment can sign up for Sprint’s Easy Pay option which will mean the Galaxy Grand Prime can be picked up for $0 upfront and paid off monthly for $10 a month. Alternatively, those signing up on a standard two-year plan can take advantage of picking up the Galaxy Grand Prime for only $29.99. This last option price is calculated after claiming back via a $50 mail-in rebate.
In terms of the devices, The Galaxy Grand Prime comes equipped with a 5-inch display with a 960 x 540 resolution. Inside, the Grand Prime will come loaded with 1.5 GB RAM and powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. Moving to the camera side of things and the Galaxy Grand Prime comes equipped with 8-megapixel rear camera which is further coupled with a 5-megapixel front facing option. In terms of memory the device will come as standard with 8GB internal storage and the option to expand via the included microSD card slot. One of the real interesting features for a device in this price range, is that the Galaxy Grand Prime comes running on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) freshly out of the box. Everything will be powered by a 2,600 mAh removable battery and in terms of the physical dimensions, the Grand Prime measures 5.7 inches x 2.84 inches x 0.34 inches and weighs only 156g.
As such, this price does mean that you can pick up a Samsung product at a much cheaper price than you would have to pay for many of the other Samsung devices currently available. For those interested and as mentioned, the device will be available starting from this Friday and can be picked up from Sprint online or in store.
