UMi is a Chinese smartphone OEM which has unveiled a rather interesting handset lately, the UMi Iron. This is actually the company’s flagship which is made out of metal, and it doesn’t cost all that much. The UMi Iron packs 3GB of RAM, MediaTek’s MT6753 SoC, 13-megapixel camera, Android 5.1, etc. That being said, this China-based OEM is planning to release yet another handset soon. The company has recently teased the arrival of UMi Hammer S, which is actually a successor to the company’s Hammer device. The company has already confirmed that the Type-C USB 3.0 port will be available on this device, and they’ve also confirmed part of UMi Hammer S’ specs now, read on.
The UMi Hammer S will feature a 5.5-inch display, though its resolution hasn’t been confirmed yet. The device will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core SoC, much like its brother, the UMi Iron. This device will also ship with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, while a fingerprint scanner will also be a part of this package. This handset will be released next month, in August, and according to the company’s Facebook post, it will be priced at $129.99. The original UMi Hammer actually carried this very same price, and you do get an upgraded version this time around.
The Hammer S looks rather similar to the UMi Iron in terms of specifications, though it has a gig RAM less than its sibling. Unlike the UMi Iron, this thing will sport capacitive buttons below the display, as you can see in the provided image. The fingerprint scanner will be located on the back of UMi Hammer S, below the camera sensor. The dual-LED flash will also be available on the back of this smartphone, next to the camera sensor. The UMi Hammer S will sport a metallic trim around the device, at least judging by the provided image. There you have it folks, it seems like this will be yet another solid offering by UMi. Either way, we’ll report back when the device launches, stay tuned for more info if you’re interested.
