Since the original Galaxy Note that Samsung launched back in 2012, the larger-than-life smartphone has been known for excellent battery life. With a larger battery comes better battery life, however as displays are getting more and more dense with Quad HD resolutions and such, batteries have to work harder than ever before. The Galaxy Note has steadily evolved over the past few years, and with the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 4 sporting similar features and design the Galaxy Note 5 is a big deal for those upgrading from the Galaxy Note 3 or looking for something different. Battery life is a big deal for the Galaxy Note range and with a 3,000 mAh battery under the hood, which is non-replaceable, have Samsung lost their way?
Inside the Galaxy Note 5 is a 3,000 non-removable battery, just as there is inside of the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge and the new plus-size model. For some, this might be a turn off, but Samsung have reassured fans that it’ll still get the same sort of battery life that they’re looking for. Even if it doesn’t, the Galaxy Note 5 features both ‘Fast Charging’ and ‘Fast Wireless Charging’. In fact, the Galaxy Note 5 will fully charge, using a compatible wireless charger, in just two hours. Samsung say this is the “fastest” they’ve ever shipped, and just like the previous models Samsung launched this year, the Galaxy Note 5 supports all wireless charging standards.
Samsung didn’t mention exactly the sort of usage you can expect from the Galaxy Note 5, but with a large battery at 3,000 mAh and an octa-core CPU, the Galaxy Note 5 should last the distance. We’ll be able to get a better test of one once we’ve gotten hands-on with a Galaxy Note 5. Samsung’s latest Galaxy Note will be available next week on August 21st. Where Samsung hopes to make up for a non-removable battery is with the aforementioned fast-charging and of course the inclusion of 4GB of RAM, making this one of the most powerful smartphones available on the market.
