ASUS has really been using the “Zen” brand lately, with the Zenfone, and then the ZenPad when they announced it in India a few weeks ago. Now they are bringing the ZenPad S 8.0 Stateside. So you can pick up a pretty decent tablet for just $299. It’s actually available starting today. The ZenPad S 8.0 features a 1536×2048 resolution IPS display, an Intel Atom Z3580 processor. This is a quad-core 2.3GHz 64-bit processor. We’re also looking at 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage along with a microSD card slot, and a USB Type-C port. However, it’s similar to the OnePlus 2’s USB Type-C in the fact that it is USB 2.0 and not USB 3.0 speeds.
Spec-wise, it’s a pretty fantastic tablet, especially for just $299. We also have front-facing speakers here on the ASUS ZenPad S 8.0. Additionally there is a 15.2 Wh battery which should be enough battery to keep you going all day long. With the 4GB of RAM inside, you shouldn’t have any issues with apps closing either. We’ve got plenty of storage for movies and stuff, so it’ll be great for those long flights around the world. With 64GB internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports up to 128GB, what else could you ask for? Since this does use USB Type-C, ASUS is also selling adapters that will allow you to use regular USB ports as well as an Ethernet port. So you could theoretically plug it into your router and get even faster data speeds over the internet. Which is pretty cool, actually.

This joins the ZenPad family of the ZenPad C 7.0, ZenPad 8 and ZenPad 10. Definitely a big year for ASUS with the Zenfone 2, and now the ZenPad family of tablets, all of which are pretty high-specced but at rather low prices. Hard to complain about that.
