Samsung has been at the top of many of our leak watchlists, especially since we’ve already seen so many of the different cases to be available once the device launches this fall. But since Samsung has officially announced its Unpacked event for this year, and we typically see the Galaxy Note line of devices get a refresh at Unpacked, leaks of the Note 5, as well as the still-rumoured S6 edge+, will likely continue and possibly even get more specific.
In the realm of the latter, we have what could be a press render of the two unreleased devices standing side-by-side. Behold, what could very well be the first clear, full look at what Samsung’s fall flagships could be. The render comes courtesy of Evan Blass over on Twitter @evleaks, and that in and of itself adds some credibility, given his past accuracies. Since the Unpacked event is scheduled for August 13, just under two weeks away, we have more than enough time to see official looks at the other angles of the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+, but the specs are the part many are eager to have confirmed.
Thus far, we’ve heard that the Galaxy Note 5 will feature a stunning-as-usual 5.7-inch 2560 by 1440 pixel, QuadHD Super AMOLED display, as well as the updated Exynos 7422 octa-core processor aided by 4 gigabytes of RAM. The device is also rumoured to have an improved S Pen, but it may or may not have the auto-ejection feature as was previously thought. In line with the various design changes of the Galaxy S line, the Galaxy Note 5 looks to adopt the sealed-in battery, lack of MicroSD card slot, as well as the stylish glass back panel and aluminium frame. Samsung fans, specifically Galaxy Note fans, might have the tough choice of keeping an older device in hopes of Samsung welcoming external storage in next year’s devices, or just following the upgrade cycle and moving forward with the company’s choice. Either way, the Galaxy S6 edge+ looks to have much the same list of specifications as its spring siblings, just with an increase in footprint. The S6 edge+ might be Samsung’s way of adopting a new sibling for the Note 5, given the Note 4 was accompanied by the Note Edge, the single-edged predecessor to the still-popular Galaxy S6 edge.
