Huawei has released a number of devices this year, including a number of high-end ones, but the company still has to release their yearly Mate phablet. Huawei has released their Mate7 phablet during IFA in September last year, and it seems that they’ll announce its successor during IFA as well. Interestingly enough, this phablet might not be called Mate8, but Mate 7S or simply Mate S, depending on which source you want to believe. We’ve seen a ton of leaks regarding this device, so let’s try to make some sense out of it all.
This Chinese smartphone OEM has teased the ‘Mate S’ handset yesterday, along with its launch date, September 2nd. The company didn’t mention the number ‘7’ anywhere in their teaser, but it’s highly likely that the device will be called Mate 7S in the end. The device was also certified by TENAA recently, the CRR-UL00 model. You can take a look at the Mate (7)S images in the gallery down below. That being said, Huawei’s September 2nd launch invite more or less confirms Force Touch (touchpad) on this device. Huawei has sent a rather interesting invitation to the Chinese media, a 3D model made up of pins. As you can see in the images down below, the pins on this model actually stand out, and they move if you apply pressure to them. This quite obviously points right at Force Touch technology, and it will almost certainly going to be included in the upcoming Mate (7)S phablet.
As you can see in TENAA images down below, this device actually resembles the Mate7 a whole lot. The all-metal design is back once again, and same can be said about a fingerprint scanner. The camera will protrude a little bit on the back, and you can also expect this device to sport very thin side bezels, though it remains to be seen if there will be any black bars on there or not. The Mate (7)S will feature a 5.7-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, 3 or 4GB of RAM (two models are possible), and will be powered by Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 935 64-bit octa-core SoC. The device will launch on September 2nd, and we’ll report back if any additional info surfaces before then.
