Virtual Reality is an area of technology which has been recently receiving a great amount of attention due to its great advances. VR’s main goal is to replicate physical presence in places in the real world or fantastical worlds, letting the user interact or explore said environments. Most virtual reality experiences today, are available through stereoscopic displays in VR Headsets, such as the HTC Vive. This headset, is the effort of a partnership between HTC and Steam, and will be available for consumers by the Holiday 2015 season. HTC is really investing a lot in virtual reality, aiming to give a truly better experience than its competitors. Today, HTC announced the company’s latest partnership to give its customers an even richer VR experience. In conjunction with game publisher Starbreeze and Lionsgate, HTC will bring a virtual reality first-person shooter based on one of the most popular action films of 2014, John Wick. A teaser to a rather unusual adaptation of the movie will be coming first to owners of the HTC Vive VR Headset.
John Wick was a surprisingly good fast-paced action movie released last October 2014, critically acclaimed and loved by numerous movie fans, but no one expected a game to be based on it. This is why it has grabbed the attention of the media, fortunately, HTC and the involved companies have released enough information to give us an overall idea of what the game might be like. “The companies will team to create a standalone, first-person shooter game based on the world and characters of the John Wick films and centered around the infamous Continental Hotel. In addition, Starbreeze will further integrate the John Wick storyline into its wildly popular Payday game, which has over nine million players worldwide, facilitating cross-promotion and integration of the two games”, Starbreeze stated in the official press announcement.
The John Wick VR game will most likely turn out to be more than loyal to the movie, as the actual whole production team of John Wick, including Thunder Road Pictures’ Basil Iwanyk, will be closely collaborating with the teams in charge of the game’s development. A promotional playable demo for the John Wick game will be available in exclusive HTC Vive World Tour locations, so make sure to check when will an event be coming near you to experience the popular movie up close and personal.
