New Nexus 5 Renders Show 5.2-inch Form and Fingerprint Sensor

For a long time now, we’ve been hearing of rumors of new Nexus devices from both LG and Huawei that should be launching towards the end of this year. After all the excitement surrounding the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5, it appears the Nexus line is the next big release to close out 2015 on a high note. A smaller and larger approach appears to be what Google and its partners are looking at this year, or at least that’s what the rumors seem to be showing us so far. With Huawei offering up the larger Nexus device and LG taking on the Nexus 5 name once again with a 5.2-inch form factor and a fingerprint sensor.

Now, in this latest leak of renders, obtained by @OnLeaks for uSwitch, it looks like the LG Nexus 5 for 2015 will feature a design similar to last year’s without the rounder top and bottom edges of the device. A fingerprint sensor is featured around the rear of these renders, and it appears as though this will feature a dual-LED flash as well. According to rumor, this is apparently going to be a device that measures 146.9mm high, 72.9mm wide and is 8mm thick and will feature a USB Type-C port. Considering that both Type-C and fingerprint recognition are big new features in the upcoming Android M release, a Nexus device to feature both of these is hardly surprising, but good news for early adopters nonetheless.

With Huawei rumored to be taking the mantle of Nexus 6 this year, those looking for a new device running stock Android could have more of a choice than they did last year, with models from LG and Huawei on offer. The big question that those looking forward to another Nexus 5 will want answering is whether or not the new Nexus 5 will be available for less than the Nexus 6 was last year, and whether or not it’ll be another excellent value device as the original was. Hopefully, we should know more in the next month or so, but with IFA coming up it doesn’t look 2015 is done just yet.
