Rumor: Huawei Nexus To Come With Global LTE Support

While all the talk today revolves around the two Samsung devices which are due to be announced tomorrow, they are not the only big devices that are expected in the coming weeks and months. In fact, there are another two particular devices which are set to arrive soon enough together and these are the two Nexus smartphones. Although, most of the details are still classified as rumors, it does seem fair enough to assume that one is being made by LG and the other by Huawei. The LG one looks to be a refresh of the previous Nexus 5, while the Huawei one looks to be the next major flagship offering.

Well, in terms of the Huawei Nexus, the latest coming through suggests that the Huawei Nexus might have one feature that you won’t find on many, if any, devices this year. BGR India are reporting that a source “who has seen the Huawei Nexus” has told them that the device contains a single PCB board supporting all bands. This essentially means that the Huawei Nexus is a global LTE device. Even more simply put, wherever you go with the Huawei Nexus, it will be compatible with the regional or country-specific LTE bands. This particular feature would set the phone apart from everything else on the market, as all devices tend to be compatible with select LTE bands. Something, which is thought to be a cost-cutting measure more than an actual smartphone limitation. Therefore, Google could be setting a precedent by introducing the feature.

Interestingly, this is leading to speculation that it might be in some respects, early indications of where Google hopes to take Project Fi in the future. Of course, it is far too early to speculate on whether this is the case. Although, it could be argued that a global LTE device would certainly be something that Google could look to take advantage of, in this respect.

Earlier reports this morning also detailed some fresh spec leaks that came from @OnLeaks. If you missed the earlier reports, then @OnLeaks stated that the Huawei Nexus does come with a 5.7-inch display, front facing speakers, a fingerprint scanner and a Type-C USB port. These join the already rumored specs of late, also suggesting the Huawei Nexus comes with a 5.7-inch QHD display, along with 4GB RAM and a 21-megapixel rear camera. While in terms of the processor, there are rumblings that the latest Snapdragon 820 from Qualcomm might be in play. Although, this seems highly dependent on when the Huawei Nexus comes to market and therefore, seems to be the less grounded rumor at the moment.
