It’s not uncommon for manufacturers to release some of their phones as carrier exclusive variants, they typically sport some prominent logos or they can change the design altogether. Sony has released some variants of their flagships with Verizon, the Xperia Z3v had a similar design to the Xperia Z2 with some updated specs and we recently reported that the phone is no longer available. This year, the Xperia Z4v was announced and it was a much more interesting upgrade. While this year’s flagship, known as the Xperia Z3+ or Xperia Z4, is nearly indistinguishable from last year’s flagship, the Xperia Z4v is actually the first phone from the company to increase the resolution of its display.
The design of the Xperia Z4v, while familiar, is also a little different from what we’ve been seeing from the company as the top and bottom bezels aren’t symmetrical. When compared to the Z3v, the new phone is smaller in every dimension measuring 144.4 x 72.3 x 8.7 mm and it’s lighter too, at 162 grams. The display still measures 5.2 inches but it has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (QHD). Powering up the device is the Snapdragon 810 processor with 3 GB of RAM and its internal storage is 32 GB, which can be expanded with a microSD card. The main camera has the typical Sony 20.7-megapixel sensor and the front facing one has a resolution of 5.1 megapixels.
Now, a YouTube user claims that some more aspects regarding pricing and availability were given at an exclusive event and he has shared these details as well as some hands-on photos of the device. Apparently, the Xperia Z4v will be available on September 3rd. As for the price, it will cost $599, but it will get a $100 discount on its first week of availability, plus they will offer $100 of credit for the Google Play Store. Other reports claim that the carrier is offering users the option to trade in their Xperia Z3v for the new model and they will get it for $379.99. For those who did not own the last model and want to upgrade without trading it, they will still get a $70 discount.
