Earlier today, during their Unpacked event in New York City, we saw Samsung finally and officially take wraps off of both the Galaxy Note 5 as well as the Galaxy S6 Edge+. While neither of these devices were all that surprising, the new Blackberry Keyboard for the Galaxy Note 5 was something of a surprise. These devices are now official, and depending on where you are in the world, you can even pre-order these starting today, while they’ll be available for general sales starting next week, August 21st. One area in which the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge excelled at was their cameras, so what’s new with the larger brother?
Sadly, not much really. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ – as well as the Galaxy Note 5 for that matter – seems to have the same 16-megapixel f/1.9 config as the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge launched with earlier this year. Is that a bad thing? Well, this depends on what you were expecting, but in general, no. The sensor and configuration in the Galaxy S6 is still one of the best out there, and while even the new software in the S6 Edge+ isn’t as flexible as the LG G4’s, it’s a great all-rounder and produces some of the best low-light photos out there. For a camera that just delivers without any fuss, it looks like this is one of the best in a device of its size.
Speaking of size, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is a 5.7-inch monster and it won’t disappoint with 4GB of RAM and that same Exynos 7420 octa-core CPU of Samsung’s own creation.
