ZUK is a Chinese smartphone OEM, and a relatively new company at the same time. This company was founded earlier this year, and is backed by both Qihoo 360 and Lenovo. The company has been teasing their ZUK Z1 for a long time, and have finally announced it a couple of days ago. The ZUK Z1 is a very well-specced, and affordable device. ZUK has announced the Z1, and consumers which are interested in purchasing this phone are able to register for a flash sale as we speak. The ZUK Z1 costs 1,799 Yuan ($281) in China, and it seems like many people are interested in the device, read on.
The company has opened up registration for a first ZUK Z1 flash sale two days ago, and today they’ve confirmed that over 1.5 million people have already registered to participate in it. This is quite an achievement for ZUK, though keep in mind that not every single consumer will be able to purchase this thing, at least not this time around. As you probably already know, Chinese OEMs tend to sell their devices through flash sales at first considering they simply cannot produce so many devices in such a short time span. ZUK has secured a significant number of ZUK Z1 units for the first flash sale (we still don’t know the exact number), but considering how many people are interested, chances are that the vast majority of them won’t be able to purchase it. The first ZUK Z1 flash sale will be held on August 18th at Jingdong Mall, one of China’s biggest retailers.
The ZUK Z1 features a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of in-built storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC powers this thing, and a rather big 4,100mAh battery is available on the inside. The 13-megapixel OIS camera is available on the back of the ZUK Z1, and an 8-megapixel shooter can be found up front. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with ZUK’s ZUI user interface on top of it. Now, keep in mind that the company has already teased what seems to be an international launch of this device for August 21st, and it is possible that they’ll introduce a Cyanogen OS variant of the device then. Either way, stay tuned, ZUK’s event is not that far away.
