Android is always growing, and part of this growth means new apps to sink your teeth into. Whether you just like trying out new things or you’re still looking for a particular app to help you with a particular thing, we’ve rounded up a few different new apps we noticed this week that might be of some use to you.
Android Pay
Android Pay should be pretty self explanatory as it’s been talked about for months since the official announcement back at Google IO. The newly launched Google mobile payment app started hitting devices this week, and is replacing the old Google Wallet application which used to be for NFC-based mobile payments. The app is not yet found in the Play Store, but users should have began seeing the old wallet app with an available update to transition.
Google Wallet (New)
Just before Android Pay launched, Google launched the new Google Wallet app. This wasn’t an update to the old application as that was reserved for transforming into Android Pay. The completely new and separate app is now what takes care of people’s person to person mobile payments, allowing you to quickly and easily send money to other Wallet users.
Hopper
Hopper is all about helping users predict airfare prices and it claims it can help you save up to 40% on flight purchases. It can notify you of better deals if they come up after you’ve searched for a specific flight, and should you be shown the best deals Hopper also alerts you that you may already have the best deal you’re going to get so you can buy right away.
Picpal
Selfies can be a great way to grab some cool photos of you and your friends and/or family, but what if you want to take a selfie with someone who you aren’t currently with? While not an exact solution, Picpal offers something almost as good with an option to create selfie collages. You can start by taking a selfie and then inviting others to add to the collage by taking their own, and when everything is done you can share it on various social media sites.
MovieDay: Movie Countdown List
If you’re a huge film buff then you likely have lots of movies on your watch list. To help keep track of them all MovieDay lets you add new movies to your “want to watch” list whether they’ve been released already or not. For film that aren’t out yet, MovieDay will show you a countdown timer so you know exactly how many days are left. The app also lists movie ratings and lets you view trailers, and you can browse different movies based on a number of different categories.
