Flint is a mobile payment service designed to run your business from the palms of your hands…using nothing but a smartphone and their Flint payment app. It is specifically for non-traditional business owners and allows those small businesses, freelancers and non-profits to accept a credit card with no external card reader. If you are running a small craft business or sell at a flea market – now you will be able to make those previously lost sales by now accepting credit cards…who carries cash anymore?
Today, Flint announced enhancements to their Android app – this includes the ability to include immediate electronic receipts via SMS. Included in the new Android SMS support, business owners will no longer need to type in a customer’s email address as the SMS message will provide a link that the customer can click on that will take them directly to their receipts and invoices. Greg Goldfarb, co-founder and CEO of Flint said, “We developed Flint to serve the millions of service-based small businesses, freelancers and nonprofit volunteers who need a fast, easy and secure way of getting paid quickly with nothing more than their smartphones. Adding SMS-delivered receipts to our Android app will ensure that business owners can keep their business effectively running from the palm of their hand while still providing receipts immediately to their customers.”
According to researchers IDC, Android devices account for nearly 79-percent of global smartphone market so it makes sense that Flint would go after that many users. A big plus is that no card reader is necessary as the Flint app uses the camera from the smartphone to “securely scan” the credit card number rather than having to swipe the card, and there is no chance of an error since you do not have to manually type in the card number. The Flint app also offers flexible options for you to receive your payments – invoicing, email, web or social feeds. The Flint app is free to download and with Flint’s easy setup, the user can create accounts and start accepting payments within minutes. Flint offers a low processing fee of only 1.95-percent for each debit card transaction and 2.95-percent per credit card transaction and Flint even gives you the first 30 days of transactions free. Monies are generally deposited in the customer’s account with one business day.
Another nice thing about Flint platform is it offers a range of business productivity features, such as – data synchronization with QuickBooks Online, digital coupons, team account workflow, a merchant portal for advanced account management and in depth analytics. Flint has you covered from accepting payments for you, getting the funds quickly into your account, hooking up to your QuickBooks for accounting purposes to helping you to analyze your sales data. You can do all of this with you smartphone and no unsightly attachments.
