Next week, Google is slated to take the wraps off of two new Nexus smartphones. Including the Nexus 6P from Huawei. Earlier today, we saw the packaging for the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X from LG. Now we’re seeing the front and back of the Nexus 6P, in what appears to be press renderings. They look pretty familiar. So the back you have a hump for the camera with a fingerprint sensor on the back above the Nexus logo as well. On the front we have what appears to be front-facing speakers. As well as pretty small bezels, which is great to see. We also have all the normal apps on the home screen, which you’d see on the Nexus 6 right after doing a factory-reset.
The Nexus 6P has a 5.7-inch 1440p display, along with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There is rumored to be 32GB, 64GB and 128GB of storage models. Which would make the Nexus 6P the first 128GB Nexus available. And one of the first Android smartphones to come with 128GB (aside from the Galaxy S6 and a few other Kickstarter project smartphones). We’re looking at Android 6.0 Marshmallow, obviously, running in here. We also have a USB Type-C connector, most likely, here on the Nexus 6P. While it’s not confirmed, it’s a very likely possibility to be available on the Nexus 6P from Huawei.
September 29th is when we should learn all about the Nexus 6P from Huawei and nexus 5X from LG. We’ll likely also hear about some other new products from Google, as we have seen a number of Chromecast-like devices running through the FCC in recent days, as well as a number of leaks. So we could see a new Chromecast and some new Android TV models on the 29th. Which is just over a week away. Obviously we’ll also see the final version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow showcased, and hopefully begin it’s rollout later that day, to existing Nexus devices. Currently the rumor mill is still pointing towards an October release for the new Nexus devices, even after pre-orders.
