The new Motorola Moto 360 Android Wear smartwatch is now official, and there is a lot to be talked about with this year’s offerings as Motorola has pulled out all the stops, and is offering three different models from the very beginning of the launch which starts this month. There will be a standard 42mm body watch, a 46mm body watch, and the sport model available. Motorola is making it possible to customize your device right from launch as well with various options through the Moto Maker website, and pre-orders are already live for the non-sport model. There are plenty of different customization options available and as one would expect some of those will increase the cost of the watch up from the base price of $299, so let’s go through all of that.
As stated above the base price for the watch will start at $299 which is for the 42mm body. You can however, up that to the 46mm body if you prefer a slightly larger watch face for just $50 more. There are options for customizing the case again this year, which comes in silver and black free of charge, or for an additional $30 you can pick up the gold model case. New to this year’s watch though is the option for customizing the bezel. Black, Silver, and Gold chamfered bezels are all free, but you can spend an extra $20 for the micro knurl design in all of those colors as well.
Leather bands are standard again this year and won’t cost you any extra, and can be picked up in both Cognac and Black. If you’re the type to sport the metal watch bands, there are three different colors for the metal band available which are Silver, Black, and Gold, all costing an additional $50. Motorola of course also lets you customize your watch face design if you want something custom to come right out of the box, these are all free and likely will be available from the settings menu of the watch even if you don’t set one up in Moto Maker. So the standard price for the watch comes in at the same cost as last year, $299, but there are a few more customization options with the new model that can certainly hike the price a little bit. If that doesn’t bother you, you’ll be looking at a cool $449 at the most expensive. Shipment dates for the watch start on September 29th if your combination of custom options is on back order, but dates could be sooner depending on what you pick for your specific design.
