As part of Lenovo, Motorola announced a few new products today during their press conference at IFA 2015. That was the Moto 360. Now the new Android Wear smartwatch had been leaked several times already. And we had heard there would be three models. Well Motorola has made that official. We have a Moto 360 for him, one for her, and then a Sport model. The Sport model isn’t as high-end or premium looking and is made for when you want to go running and such. Hence the name.
Motorola is touting that with the Moto 360 Sport, you can leave your smartphone at home while you’re on your run. With the built-in GPS, it accurately tracks your speed, as well as your distance and pace. There is also a built in heart rate sensor that will track the other vitals. Thanks to an update to Android Wear earlier this year, you can also play music right from your wrist, and have music stored on the watch. Although it is only 4GB of storage inside, so you won’t be able to store much.
The company is also touting the new AnyLight hybrid display, which allows you to see the display outdoors, even in bright sunlight. With the Moto 360 Sport, you’re working it being taken to a whole new level. Motorola has gone with a durable, but still comfortable design here. Using silicone that features special UV coating which keeps moisture away and resists from fading.
Finally, and probably the most interesting part here is that Motorola is touting two days of battery life with the Moto 360 Sport. While the original Moto 360 didn’t have great battery life, Motorola is touting that this years model has plenty to go around. We’ll be the judge of that once we get a review unit and to try it out. Pre-orders are going live for the Moto 360 today, from Amazon, Motorola.com, Google Store and other retailers. You can customize it through MotoMaker, and it’ll cost between $299 and $429.99 depending on what you customize it with. However, availability for the Moto 360 Sport is not yet known. Motorola has said they will keep us updated, however.
