Ever since the NVIDIA SHIELD arrived on the Android TV Scene, the SHIELD has very much left its mark on the industry and clearly stamped its position as the most powerful Android TV device that is currently available. In fact, even with newer competitor products arriving, like Apple’s recently announced Apple TV and Amazon’s Fire TV, the SHIELD still stands out as the device to buy for those looking for a more powerful machine, better performance, better gaming options and 4K streaming.
That said, the availability outside of the U.S. for the NVIDIA SHIELD has been slow coming. Those looking to pick one up in the likes of Europe have been made to wait, although, it does now look like that wait is finally coming to an end. NVIDIA have confirmed today that the NVIDIA SHIELD will be available starting from tomorrow, October 1st, in select regions outside of the U.S. The regions who will see the SHIELD availability open up include the UK, Germany, France and the Nordic countries. NVIDIA has confirmed that as well as being available to buy online, the European launch will also see its availability for the first time through retailers as well. As such, if you are in the U.K, you will be able to pick the SHIELD up from the likes of GAME.
In terms of pricing, the SHIELD pretty much works out to be the same regardless of where you are and once you take the currency conversions into account. So, for those based in the UK, the Standard 16GB SHIELD will be available for £149.99. For those wanting to go bigger the SHIELD PRO (which boasts 500GB internal storage) will set you back £229.99. The prices are for the main unit and one SHIELD Controller (game pad). Those wanting to pick up the SHIELD Remote will be looking at an additional £39.99 and for the SHIELD Stand will be looking at £19.99. For those looking for multi-player action, then additional SHIELD Controllers can be picked up for £49.99 each. In terms of the rest of Europe, the standard 16GB SHIELD will cost €199.99 while the SHIELD PRO is now available for €299.99. The SHIELD REMOTE costs €49.99, while additional SHIELD Controllers come in at €59.99 each and the SHIELD Stand costs €29.99
